Peak surf season for the famous consistently perfect surf and conditions at Playa Colorado is March-August, featuring offshore winds all day most every day and constant s/sw swells. Playa Colorado is a gated, private, high security surf resort. We have a nine hole golf course, ocean front beach club and variety of bars and restaurants on site.
We were here before there was a single house on the beach and have been here for every step of the development. Our clients appreciate our experience here in making thier trip to Nicaragua as easy and fun as possible!
We offer surf/shoot packages here at Playa Colorado inside Hacienda Iguana that include:
- Round Trip airport transfers

*non- package photo/video shoots are $100 per person per session so package price of $300 per day for accomdation/airport transfers/unlimited shoots/trip movie edit and all the intangibles that TR and his team, and their experience and expertise, is an excellent opportunity for those who with to score the best waves and have them captured in the most professional and creative manner possible.

“Arriving in 2003 to Playa Colorado by sea, aboard The Crossing as Quiksilver staff photographer, I immediately fell in love with this beach. It was empty and there was not a single structure. We quickly figured out that the combination of a deep, underwater trench offshore funnelling in all swell energy, constant offshore winds due to the inland lakes constantly converging microclimates, made for the best and most consistent surf spot any of us had ever encountered in this region. Shortly thereafter Hacienda Iguana was born. I purchased property here and moved to Nicaragua full time. I was hired as the first Staff Photographer by the developers, and was the first surf photographer to work the beach here. Since then I have seen over a dozen seasons come and go, have made thousands of friends, and watched this empty beach transform into the most vibrant and fun surf resort in the region. The energy and stoke at the beach club every evening, after everyone has been getting tubed all day, must be felt to be appreciated.
